About Us
Hello and welcome to Miniherdsnq.
Our love for miniature goats started in 2008 with 2 bottle fed doelings. We instantly fell in love with the breed and decided this was the breed for us.
We decided to start a small breeding herd and bought a bottle fed buckling. To our disappointment and heart ache this first attempt at starting our stud was not ment to be. Dusty our little buckling died only 2 weeks after we got him home to coccidiosis.
A year later Shadow our beautiful alpine coloured doe, who was in kid for the first time was attacked by 2 dogs and died. This was a very distressing time for us and Spirit who had been best friends with Shadow since they were born.
About 4 months later Spirit had twins , but sadly she past away when they were about 10 weeks old. She contracted a rare disease called meliodosis which comes out in the soil after it has been wet and hot for a long time. After many long days and nights of trying to comfort and treat her she continued to get worse. To our dismay we decided to have the vet put her to sleep and end the pain she was in.
It has been 2 years since we lost Spirit and we still remember all the good and bad memories we have of our minis.
Now 2 years on We have decided to get serious about our miniature goat dreams. We travelled 1400km to pick up 9 pregnant does and 2 bucks. We now finally have our miniature goat stud.
We are focusing our breeding on the pixi and nuwby  ear types.
Our stud is operated on 5 acres located approximately 50km south of Townsville in north Queensland.
We are proud registered members of the miniature goat breeders association of Australia (MGBA).
